Hosts William Dettloff and Eric Raskin are joined by guest Tim Starks as they discuss the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, Mike Tyson, and the highs and lows of the recent Showtime broadcast from Brooklyn and HBO broadcast from upstate New York. Good podcast gents - I’d want to interview Rocky Marciano (back from the dead) about whether he thought he could indeed carry Larry Holmes jockstrap.
Regarding what kept Jack Johnson alive back in the day, there were some ministers who allegedly publicly called for him to be lynched. Some have theorized that he made such a good villain as Heavyweight Champ that the search for a “Great White Hope” to beat him in the ring was so much fun that it kept him alive in the meantime (and allowed him to bang as many white women as he wanted to while being the Champ).
PS - Hate the name of Tim’s rankings. “You ever hear of the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board?” “What - I didn’t know trannies had their own ratings!” - said no one (of course)
